General feedback on topic 4
There was a broad range of possible topics to choose from and collectively you have covered a variety of ethical issues around business or educational applications of social media. It is clear that you have also learned a lot from reading and commenting on the work of your colleagues with different viewpoints.
The best posts started the discussion with a definition of āethicsā ā this gives a distinct framework against which to assess your choice of topic. The best posts recognised that ethical/unethical behaviour cannot be categorised simply in yes/no terms, and the challenge lies in assessing where the boundaries lie and making appropriate choices.
Another distinguishing factor was the degree of focus on the chosen area – many posts tried to cover too much ground and therefore tended towards description rather than analysis.
It was also noticeable in some cases that visuals are still being used to cram in more words rather than creatively substitute for them.
For some extra pointers on how to improve for the last topic, have a read of this advice we gave to students last year.
Finally, remember that alongside the set topics you should be thinking about theĀ development of your own professional online profiles for the final assessed task. Please make sure you are aware of the requirements and the criteria for this task by going through the links and documents in the Study Guide.
