Topic 2: Having more than one online identities.

With the increase of the Internet popularity people started to prefer spending their time online over other daily activities they used to do before – watching TV, doing hobbies, even family time. We certainly cannot judge whether it’s good or bad. Every generation has its positive and negative sides and judging them by the rules that probably can no longer be applied is pointless. We just have to accept the situation. Continue reading →

Summary post for Topic 1

This fortnight was one of firsts for me – learning to harness the power and responsibility of a purely online module, a new area of study, formal peer-to-peer feedback and engaging with social media for not just personal interaction. As this is my summary post I will use it to not only analyse the topic itself but my experience and how I think I can improve. Continue reading →

Prior to researching the concepts of ‘digital visitors’ and ‘digital residents’ for topic 1, these were not concepts I had actively considered before. Whilst I have always been subconsciously aware that there is clearly a divide in the ‘skill’ as such between different online users, until being set the task of topic 1 I had not consciously considered the distinctions between them.
