Comment on #UOSM2008 Topic 3: Creating Professional Online Identities by alysiawildman
This a very concise and well expressed blog post exploring the topic of authentic online professional profiles.
I like how you highlight and place emphasis on how ‘engagement’ is key and interacting with industry professionals allows candidates to express their interest beyond the stifling set questions and word count enforcing application forms. It shows a wider genuine interest in industry related matters. I think contributing online and a well established professional online presence is indicative of whether an individual is ‘active’ or ‘passive’.
I was unaware of LinkedIn’s ‘Resume Builder’ tool and had previously merely been sharing my profile as a link and/or exporting it as .pdf file, so thank you to for introducing me to this function.
Just one note including informative images or videos in your blog posts may enhance your argument/intended message. For example including a link: (http://resume.linkedinlabs.com/) to the resume builder in the LinkedIn labs and using a ‘Call to Action’ encouraging your reader to try it out for themselves, may make your blog feel more interactive. Otherwise great work and I thoroughly enjoyed your concise style.
