#UOSM2008 – Topic 3: Discuss the ways in which an authentic online professional profile can be developed.
My presence on Google is also an important factor which can contribute:
A list with my online profiles on different websites:

After all the reading and lectures which I done for this topic I can draw a few conclusions:
1. Try to be as much as open. There are now different types of networks (social, messages, work) which can paint your online personas.
2. Be honest with you, thus be honest with others. Do not create a fake profile which has no relation with your real identity (a famous case could be the Yahoo director)
3. Social media helps both the employer and the employee. As an example we can have the case of Hootsuite company, which uses Twitter as the first step in its selection process of employee [3]. On the other hand, Adriana Lukasik [4] shows us that YouTube can be a great tools in order to increase her chances for a job. With just a video, she got the desired place for work.
Questions and answers about http://www.unilever.co.uk/careers-jobs/ :
–> How well do you think they attract potential employees ?
<– I think yes because the page is simple but useful for a user. It provides both all the necessary information (including ways of contacting the company) and communication over the most known social platforms such as Youtube, Facebook and Twitter
—> What could they do better ?
<— First of all the moving background is confusing. For example, I was thinking the page is moving in the horizontal direction, when I was scrolling in the vertical one. Second,
—> Do you have any other example to share from your experience of employers on social media ?
<— Well, unfortunately I have no such history. However, I have seen clubs (Oceania Southampton) which are using Facebook as a usual way to find its employee. Could be a non-professional approach, but this method reaches its target because the audience from this social network is waiting for the photos and videos which were made inside the club.
Also, I wrote a reply of 500 words For ‘The Future of You’ [1] which you can find here: http://cristiansima93.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/comment-for-httpblogshbrorg201301the.html ( They have marked it as SPAM. I wanted to post here because I highlighted some points for it. At least here nobody can hide it [UPDATED: It was banned by an automated algorithm] ).
—-> Which are you key takeaways from the video ? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpOyQk_H7QM)
<— [The answer will be posted sooner]
—-> What do you consider to be the main {option} in creating your own brand:
<—- A. Benefits
– to be regarding from the perspective of real life as a famous person because of its online brand
– all is free. there is no need to pay money. (imagine what is happening if you have to pay for an add on youtube)
– shows an dynamic, active and impressive description of a person which can be used not only to find a place to work, but as a brand for the company where you are working
– it records your history of your life
<—- B. Challenges
– the problem of finding the own positive outcomes of your work
– the time allowed to complete all its online profiles
– to be honest and to avoid lies (even if they are jokes)
