Relaxing on my own Year Abroad in Aix-en-Provence

Hi Everyone,

When I joined the Mission Employable team last June as the Educational Development Officer for Year Abroad Intern, I never imagined my four week internship would extend both into and past my own Year Abroad! Working on the REALIE project (www.realie.org) has been an exciting and rewarding opportunity and, having returned from my year in the South of France, I am so happy to be back in the office working as part of the summer intern team and handing over to the new REALIE editor, Florence Angelo.

Returning to a full time position with Mission Employable has given me the opportunity to revise the site, add new content and develop ideas to improve student engagement. Working with Florence has led to new ideas and creativity – we already have some exciting plans for the upcoming academic year!

A year on from when I started, I feel that I have developed a wealth of skills as a result of my work with Mission Employable and through my own experiences during my Year Abroad, which I can now use to improve the resource and I hope in turn will help Humanities students considering or undertaking a Residency Abroad as a part of their degree.

The warm welcome from the Mission Employable team has made me feel as if I never left and helped me to settle back into life in Southampton, in preparation for my final year as an undergraduate!
