It’s all about management (Topic 1)

A witty friend of mine lamented that no individual can escape from the claws of digital technology – data is recorded onto the digital space once you are born! There he went and he felt that the new technological era of technology has invaded everyone’s privacy. Indeed, everyone does have a choice in deciding to be either a Digital Resident or Visitor. Browsing through the blogs of my various colleagues, I see the concurrence that there are no such best modes between the both. Continue reading →

From just reading several blog posts written by my classmates, I’ve gained a good number of varied insights into Topic 1! Topic 1: Reflective Summary of “Digital Visitors” & “Digital Residents”

After spending my weekends reviewing most of my colleagues’ blog post, I get to have many different viewpoints. Most consider themselve as a “Resident” but , some find themselves as a culprit of both- the “in-between”. Reflective Summary – Digital Visitors & Residents

The scaffold of Digital Visitors and Residents has proved contentious.  While it appears most people have embraced it, others have remained cynical about its consistency and practice. The academic commentary throughout the framework have helped developed people’s understanding of the matter, I am no exception. In response to HuiMin’s  blogpost, I questioned her understanding on the distinction of Digital Visitor and Resident. Continue reading →

Picture source from www.quickmeme.com I thoroughly enjoyed reading my classmates opinions on the topic of Digital Visitors & Digital Residents and the one main conclusion I can gather between their viewpoints and mine is that the digital age or not we are born in does not play a major role in humans being categorized as ‘Digital Visitors’ or ‘Digital Residents’. Topic 1 – Reflective Summary

Before this topic was given to me, I had no clue that digital users were categorised/labelled as “Digital Visitors/Residents” or “Digital Natives/Immigrants”. After reading a few of my classmates’ blogs, I see that most of them has presented similar findings and opinions. Many of us has the same doubts, but interpreted differently, towards Prensky’s and White’s typology. Continue reading →
