Key Takeaways: The after effects of social media

Social media was initially created for us to connect and voice our thoughts but ever since its existence, our lives have been put out there for the world to see. It is not just about the fact that what you say online remains online for the world to see but also the harsh reality of having ZERO PRIVACY. Both Yu Ting and Yvonne brought up the fact that companies tend to ignore privacy when it comes to securing business. Continue reading →

Reflection on Topic 4: Ethics in Business using Social Media

This topic is relevant to us since we are becoming future marketers who are relying heavily on social media for marketing. It guides us the correct online behavior we should abide to prevent us getting into trouble. I would liken social media to be viruses that can spread rapidly in a very short time. My fellow peers have showed several examples of how people get sacked because of inappropriate posts. Continue reading →

I am in CONTROL

Photo credits: mkhmarketing Via Flickr Social media has always garnered a lot of controversies, or rather, things that was posted on social media. I don’t believe that social media is either good or bad, it is the ways that people use it that decides the image of social media. For this reflection, I’d like to reflect on both, with reference to my classmates’ blogs who did on the ethical issues on educational use of social media. Source: vrevzine.wordpress. Topic 4: The friendships we form.

This is my good friend Twitter. I really like my good friend Twitter. I also really like my other friends of the same social circle, Facebook and Instagram. But every friend, no matter how good, has a flaw. After commenting on Yi Ming’s and Evan’s post, I realised that good friends have flaws. But they are merely mediums or channels of communication. The information that we pass on to them, they just publish. That is their main job. Continue reading →

Are you sure you want to tweet that? What I have learnt from Topic 4

This topic was interesting as it was intriguing to read about the many different ethical issues faced by social media usage. Vanessa and Yu Ting blogged about privacy issues as well and gave me more insights. Yu Ting’s post made me think twice about skipping the reading of the terms and conditions section, as privacy matters are mostly made in fine print. Continue reading →
