Topic 5’s Reflective Summary

Do the advantages of content producers putting their stuff online for free outweigh the disadvantages? Even after reading many articles and watching videos, I still found it difficult to conclude a definite answer to this question I posed for myself whilst working through this topic. In Shannon’s blog post, I was able to somewhat lean closer towards the idea that it would be more advantageous. Just the sheer reason that your work gets that much more exposure to the public is a major plus. Continue reading →

Reflection: Topic 5 – Open Access

Having taken for granted on open access, I was totally unaware of its advantages and disadvantages. I’ve spent more than half my life studying, getting resources off the Internet and even downloading them. Like many others, I’ve encountered numerous ‘restricted zones’, limiting access only if I pay a price. It’s really frustrating especially after reading part of the context. Continue reading →

Review: Is this free? Can I get it for free?

This topic has really got a discussion going on where there are many different views on whether content should be made available online for free. I used to have about 10,000 subscribers on YouTube before I revealed what software I was using and how I created my videos. After that incident, I thought that sharing is not always caring because people do not remember to give credits. Continue reading →

Topic 5: Information wants to be expensive because it is valuable

What was reminded of us by our lecturers after an essay is completed? A Conclusion? Or is it the Word count? No
How could we miss out citations? Advantages  If not for the open access information, I doubt I will able to acquire good reads from articles and journals for my assignments. Personally, if I were to encounter a blockage to access that article, I will naturally jump into another. Continue reading →
