Reflection on The Reflections Of Me

As I explored the arguments for and against multiple online identities, I realized that these two schools of thought were quite critical to the digital world.   After reading through some of my classmates’ posts for the benefits and drawbacks of single online identity and multiple online identities, I have really gained more insights on the topic.    Audrey’s blog helps me come to a realization that identity can be manipulated to blend in with different groups of people, thereby being ever-changing. Reflection on Topic 3

In the process of reflection, I had read the blogs of my classmates. Two that stood out to me were Alicia’s and Jocelyn’s. Through my understanding of these two blogs, I found that we shared a consensus on the topic of digital identity. However, we each had a separate point of focus. An eye opener to the world of online identities…

After reading through the posts written by my fellow classmates, I realised that there are more to the issue than meets the eyes. Most of them prefer to have multiple online identities while only a handful leaned towards single online identity. Other than the aspect of social media accounts, people are also concerned about privacy regarding sensitive issues and job employment. Jian Wen’s post mentioned about anonymity, which could potentially lead to cyber-bullying. Continue reading →

Reflection on Topic 3

Before #MANG2049, I never knew that there was a difference between having a single or multiple identity and always thought that having a consistent image throughout all social media platforms was the most effective. However, after going through this course and learning from my coursemates, I have learnt that having a single identity not only has a high chance of identity theft but also an even greater risk of the “unintended”.
