Let’s provide an example, in a world without free content and you need to pay for these information. Here comes Lacy a studentĀ who have a deep passion for chemistry, she wants to gain more knowledge. But she was immediately denied entry as it cost way too much. And she is not able to justify her purchase as that book might not provide what she is looking for. Free online content, good or bad?

According to Suber, open-access (OA) literature is digital, online, free-of-charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. (Suber, 2004) As a student, having such privileges helps in learning as we canā€™t afford to pay for every journal; worse if we donā€™t even know which is relevant until after payment. According to Adam Geib (2013),”The core idea of open access is the basis of its key advantageā€”articles are freely available for anyone who wishes to read them.
