After reading through all the other blog post on Topic 1, I have developed a better understanding on the Digital Visitors and Residents typology. At the same time, this acquisition of understanding raises an important question: What is the relevancy of this framework now? What will be the relevancy of this framework be in the future? When I started this module, I was wondering what kind of topics we might actually deal with. I was pleasantly surprised with the relevance and depth topic 1 had in store for me as I dived into it. The concept of Digital Visitors and Residents is one that was always present around me as I dealt with people that were on different points of the spectrum all the time but actually learning about a clear classification helped me to gain more clarity in how I view the world and people around me. Alright, I’ll admit it. I’ve never heard of the term ‘Digital Visitor’ and ‘Digital Resident’, much less know which group I belong to.
