Reflection: Ethics

With ethics being an umbrella topic provides great room for discussion. It was interesting to read on others’ concept of what is deemed ethical or not. As ethics are developed upon personal beliefs, cultures, upbringing etc; it is likely that I may have some slight disagreement with my peers. Xinlin’s post on media manipulation was one which I disagreed on. The fact that Victoria’s Secret’s perfect body campaign warrants public denigration is uncertain to me. Continue reading →

Reflections on “Ethics”

In my post, I addressed how a business use of social media can aggravate unethical behaviour. Own Image But reading Jim’s post introduced another perspective. He reminded me that a director, or specifically, the job role itself has its own “ethics” too. He is accountable to the shareholders. For him, not earning profit may be unethical. Because he did not fulfil his promise to the shareholders. But for us (the customer), we view the ‘profit-earning’ mindset as a sabotage. Continue reading →
