Between Authenticity and Privacy (Topic 2)

(HightonBros, 2014) Although the virtual space exposes us to new information from the other end of the world, what we see is only what others reveal. Shannon mentioned that often people assume who she is based on the photos she posted on Instagram. That may not reflect her true offline identity because either most of us make assumptions based on what we see online or that is just a partial part of her overall offline identity. Topic 2-Review

Topic 2 Review Reading what people have said about my post has made me challenge myself. When I was researching for material for Topic 2’s blog post, I came across this article, which I found very interesting. Good things should be shared! Patrick’s Blog Standing out from the rest is Patrick’s concrete illustration of real-life examples. Majority of the blogs that I’ve came across presented a theory-based argument which may bore readers. Continue reading →

Topic 2: Reflective Summary of Assuming Multiple Online Identities

Having read through the different views my classmates have in argument of whether they are standing for multiple online identities, or just for a single one, was extremely thought-provoking. For one, Patrick’s discussion on how businesses can capitalise on gaining extremely valuable insight to what consumers need through data-mining highlighted a point that I had unfortunately overlooked. Review of topic 2: Research areas for multiple online identities

My personal stand on internet users possessing multiple online identities remains stagnant: there are several pros and cons which can potentially translate into advantages for digital marketing. My aim for exploring other blog posts was to keep a lookout for potential research areas related to online identities and methods to improve my post’s layout and presentation methods.
