Reflective summary (Topic 2)

Comment 1 – Guo Yixin Comment 2 – Patrick Wong The debate on digital identities appears to be a rather intensive one. But I have to say that the discussions on my blogpost and those on Yixin’s and Patrick’s had led me to change my view and standpoint slightly. Beforehand, I was rather adamant that a person should minimise the creation of multiple digital identities as it can lead to an air of mistrust and lack of integrity. Continue reading →

Shannon mentioned that often people assume who she is based on the photos she posted on Instagram. That may not reflect her true offline identity because either most of us make assumptions based on what we see online or that is just a partial part of her overall offline identity. Topic 2-Review

Topic 2 Review Reading what people have said about my post has made me challenge myself. When I was researching for material for Topic 2’s blog post, I came across this article, which I found very interesting. It definitely opened my eyes to how else identities can be formed on the internet, sure we have the typical cat fisher stories where someone steals an identity or creates another persona to lure people and take advantage of them. But this article was on another level. Continue reading →

Topic 2 – Reflective Summary

Coming across Hui Min’s blog, I thought the idea of searching one’s online identity was interesting. Being curious, I’ve decided to search for my own online identity as well. This was what I found. Being concerned with privacy issues, I ensure that my social media accounts are private. However, despite them being private, images of my family, friends and myself can be found on Google. Take a look at these social experiments too. Continue reading →
