University of Southampton Voices to perform ‘Requiem in Blue’ this Saturday

A number of staff from Modern Languages at the University of Southampton will be participating in the University community choir’s performance of ‘Requiem in Blue’, at St Michael’s Church in Bugle Street, Southampton, this Saturday 25 April 2015. The University of Southampton Voices will perform alongside Cantores Michaelis and Romsey Abbey Primary School. The performance starts at 7.30pm. Continue reading →

The University of Southampton/British Council MOOC ‘Understanding Language: learning and teaching’ starts today (run through FutureLearn). This is the second run for this successful *FREE* online course, which has already attracted over 58,000 learners. This time around, we already have over 30,000 people signed up from more than 115 countries, ready to watch our new live sessions and contribute our discussions. If you have recently taken the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Lifelong Learning language evening course, now is the perfect time to expand your skills! University of Southampton Lifelong Learning has launched its programme for the coming semester, to include language stage ‘C’ classes in a range of languages. ‘Understanding Language: Learning and Teaching’ – MOOC starts next week

Modern Languages at Southampton will be relaunching the University of Southampton MOOC, ‘Understanding Language: Learning and Teaching’ on Monday 20 April, following its successful first run in November 2014. This four-week course will introduce participants to the field of second language learning, consider language classrooms and the role of teaching in language learning, and explore the uses of technology in teaching. Intercultural Connections Southampton Project seminar: ‘Business School Peer Advisors, helping Postgraduate students make the transition to studying at University of Southampton.’

The first of a series of seminars run by the Intercultural Connections Southampton Project will take place on Wednesday 18 March 2015 from 13:00-14:00 in Building 6, Room 1083, Highfield Campus. The seminar will be led by Emma Lester and Mary Morrison of the Southampton Business School, and is entitled ‘Business School Peer Advisors, helping Postgraduate students make the transition to studying at University of Southampton.’ Lunch will be provided.
