Interactive workshop on ‘Receiving and Using Feedback’

The Language and Academic Advising team in Modern Languages at Southampton are holding an interactive workshop on ‘Receiving and Using Feedback’ on Monday 16th November from 16:00-16:45 (Building 65, Lecture Theatre A) and Wednesday 18th November (Building 65, Room 1173) from 16:00-16:45. New publication: How the Press Began by Henry Ettinghausen

Henry Ettinghausen, who joined the Department of Spanish in 1965 and was Professor of Spanish at Southampton from 1983 until he retired in 2001, has just published online How the Press Began. New MOOC: How to succeed in the English B1 Level Exam

A new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on ‘How to succeed in the English B1 Level Exam’ has been launched this week (starting 3rd November). The MOOC is aimed at learners with an intermediate level of English as a Foreign Language who would like to take an official exam. The MOOC has been developed as part of the European Project ECO and offers a wide range of learning strategies and tips, all free of charge. Continue reading →

E-Learning Excellence Award for Prepare for Success

Julie Watson from Modern Languages, has been awarded an e-Learning Excellence Award for Prepare For Success, the web-based transition tool for international students coming to study in the UK. The competition for the awards was conducted by Academic Conferences and Publishing International (ACPI). The call for the competition, announced in 2014, attracted 70 submissions from the university environment, business or industry, government departments or schools. Continue reading →
