Routes into Languages receives further funding

The national Routes into Languages programme administered through the LLAS Centre based at the University of Southampton has received a further ÂŁ3.1 million from HEFCE for activities promoting language study in higher education. The Centre for Global Englishes lecture on “Interculturality: from being to doing cultural identities” is taking place today, Wednesday 8th May, at 5pm in Lecture Theatre C, Avenue Campus. The lecture will be delivered by Zhu Hua from Birkbeck College, University of London. Modern languages staff win students’ union “Excellence in Teaching” awards

At a stylish ceremony held in the Students Union building on 2 May, the outstanding teaching of Modern Languages was recognised at the first ever students’ union “Excellence in Teaching” awards ceremony. James Minney, Principal Teaching Fellow in Modern Languages (French) and now also Associate Dean Education for the Faculty of Humanities, won the overall university award for “Outstanding Lecturer”.
