‘Mexico Today’ Study Day next week

A one-day cultural event entitled ‘Mexico Today’ will be taking place on Saturday 17 May 2014 from 10am-4pm at the University of Southampton’s Avenue Campus. British Council highlights English as a Medium of Instruction

The British Council has explored some of the important questions related to the growth in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in non-English speaking universities worldwide in a recent blog post. Questions discussed include the speed of growth of EMI, the reasons for growth, the benefits and disadvantages of EMI and teacher perceptions of using EMI. ‘The Year of Jubilee’ – A performance by the University of Southampton community choir this Saturday

A number of staff from Modern Languages at the University of Southampton are taking part in the University community choir’s performance, this Saturday 3rd May, of ‘The Year of Jubilee’, at St Michael’s Church in Bugle Street, Southampton. The performance starts at 7.30pm. The piece tells the incredible story of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The first educational establishment for emancipated slaves in the USA was Fisk University, in Nashville, Tennessee. Continue reading →
