A Reflection on developing an authentic professional profile(#MANG2049)

Image reference : (Hay, A, 2014) Before I got to work on this given topic, I perceived having an authentic professional profile as a necessity as recruiters are now going digital in a big way to hire, to save cost while maximising exposure. It did not occur to me that one can have an online presence in different sites, showcasing the different aspects of his attributes, and still be counted as authentic. Continue reading →

Topic 3: Reflection

Source Authenticity has been a recurring theme from our previous topic on multiple online identities. With the internet’ ability to keep us anonymous and tailor our profiles to suit the needs of who we seek the attract, the question of authenticity will always be present. Reading Zaidhan’s’s blog provided a perspective that I overlooked. He mentions the need for self-control. Continue reading →

Reflection: Topic 3

Source : Image edited by me   After reading the insights shared by my classmates on how to manage your digital profile , I realized there are certainly points that I have missed and vice versa. Through reading and commenting on the blogs, I have gained a lot of new information and perspectives as compared to my initial understanding of the topic. Particularly, I love the way how Teresa organized and express her views on the topic. Continue reading →

Reflection: Are you authentic in your digital profiles?

My perspectives regarding personal branding and social recruitment in this digital age has been broadened after reading the different posts with varying opinions about online profile development. We are constantly reviewed on what we associated with on the Internet, be it tagged photographs or comments made. It is very likely that once something is posted on the Internet, it would stay there forever. (Couts, 2011) I found many examples listed by others to be relevant and engaging. Continue reading →

Reflection on “Building a Digital Professional Portfolio”

We’re halfway through the module. How fast! “Building a Digital Professional Portfolio” has been a practical lesson in equipping us with skills for the final assessment. Especially from reading Jia Jiun’s post. His detailed focus on effectively delivering your professionalism across to potential employers led me to think towards another aspect. Should we then even own several social media accounts? And to this, his reply reminded me of my very first proposition – mindset. Continue reading →

Reflection on the web, an authentic digital professional profile.

Every look back in a journey can be a step forward. Every reflection can bring you one step closer to your goal. After reading two blog posts (Rebecca‘s and Valerie‘s), what did I learn? A key phrase I found in both posts was “personal branding”. That was a point which I did not highlight in my previous post. Personal branding is the ultimate goal in creating an authentic digital professional profile. Continue reading →

Reflection: Topic 3

Often people do not recognize blogging as a method or even a tool for job-searching (or just that blogging is just too much effort compared to a 3 pages CV). And this is even more prevalient as I scroll through the web where everyone mostly use other social media platforms, most noteably LinkedIn and Facebook to gain an advangtage from the crowd of job hunters. Continue reading →

Reflection: Digital Profile

Topic 3 gave me an enlightenment on the importance of having a professional digital profile. I am almost ashamed to admit that I have never thought of creating a LinkedIn. However, I see the advantage now and will definitely be clearing up my social media accounts. Credit to: nbn I left a comment on Brenda’s and Wendy’s blogpost. Both posts are good reads and touched on aspects related to the authenticity of the digital profile. Continue reading →

Topic 3: Reflection on building a professional digital profile

I found this topic to be very challenging and mind-provoking as it is a very diverse topic that can be interpreted differently by individuals. After reading my peers’ blog posts on this topic, I feel that most of us has mentioned about using blogging or social media to build on our professional digital profile. It can be a way of showcasing passion or either a form of ‘self-promoting’. Continue reading →
