The End

The rise of the digital world has brought about tremendous changes. It has integrated into our daily lives and become part of us. This module significantly empowered me to do some thinking as I utilize digital platforms in today’s world. Firstly, let’s look at how I have progressed! Collaboration with my peers through commenting and feedback was one of my learning highlights. Prior to the module, I always felt that Twitter is not a useful platform in the professional context. Continue reading →

And…it’s reflection time again!

Yet another eye-opening topic! Once again, there are a variation of issues posted by my peers which I learnt from! Through Corrine’s reflection post, I was opened up to these concepts in which I have made use of a Prezi as a mind-map to present: Click on the picture to get a clearer view! Kamil Mizera suggested that both concepts are complementary (Kamil Mizera,2013). Hence, as this movement further develops, I think there is a possibility of a merge between the two concepts. Hello Open Access! {Pros & Cons}

“Open Access is a growing international movement that uses the Internet to throw open the locked doors that once hid knowledge.”  Students like us are thankful for this movement. We are lucky to be in a learning environment where our schools provide us with databases of journals and articles for academic purposes. Continue reading →

Responsibility & Education

Short Summary of the Ethical Issues Raised I have created a Prezi Slides to show an overview about Topic 4 since there are so many interesting issues that one can talk about! Click here to take a look! It was enjoyable to read about different issues blogged by my peers. Continue reading →

Let’s recall

Through Topic 3, I learnt the power of building Authentic Digital Profiles. We are always striving to keep up to change and challenges. As a marketer, you want to identify trends before your competitors do. As an individual, you want to find success in life. Indeed, times are changing and as Charmaine highlighted the possibility of digital profiles overtaking traditional resumes. I recalled learning in our HRM Module that employers take roughly 20 seconds to screen a resume. Continue reading →

Online meets Offline

“Self-branding is about being a signal in the noise of human capital. The stronger your brand, the stronger that signal.”  It makes you distinctive apart from your talents, otherwise “our individuality will be invisible.” (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2013) Building an authentic digital profile, I would say is a form of advertising yourself. No consumer likes a deceptive advertisement. Same goes to your target audience a.k.a your potential employer. Continue reading →

Learning more and more!

Moving from distinguishing our digital identity, the new topic has got me thinking about the importance of managing and protecting our identities. Reading up on the thought-provoking posts by my peers, I realized there’s no right or wrong in having more than one identity. The only mistake is when you choose to exploit the usage of it or when you lose true-self over the process. Many of us shared the same views regarding the pros and cons of this issue. One or more Online Identity?

Just some humor to spice up life, do take a look at the above video! :) Moving on from identifying who we are, today we discuss about having multiple identities online. It’s alright to have more than one Online Identity.  Reasons being: 1. We behave in different ways, depending on what situation we are in.   For example: We speak in formal languages to our superiors to present a professional image as opposed to speaking informally with our close peers over a cup of coffee. Reflection Time!

This first topic has got me all hyped up as to what is coming on our way. I find the topic refreshing as it never really came across my mind as to who I am on the digital world and how important digital profiles are! My classmates’ postings has given me unique insights on this issue. Upon reading Corrine’s post, I raised a question to her regarding how she measures the magnitude of presence on the web.
