Topic 1 Reflection Summary + 2 comments

After reviewing the various blog posts on the topic of ‘digital visitors and residents’, I realized that everybody had their own unique perspective and approach in interpreting and answering the topic. Everyone used the theories of Prensky and White as the base of their writings with relative similarity. Natives & Immigrants to Visitors & Residents ?

After analyzing numerous articles, it is evident that Mark Prensky’s model of  ‘Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants (2001) ‘ and White and Cornu’s concept on digital ‘visitors’ and ‘residents’ (2008) are relatively the cornerstones for this topic of discussion. Prensky’s dichotomy of  ‘digital natives and digital immigrants’ defines that age is the principal factor in a person’s digital competency. Continue reading →
