Hello world!

Just to put things into perspective, before I extended any effort at all to attempt Topic 3, I saw LinkedIn as just another regular job-hunting website to me. Now, I see so much value in using it as a contributing tool to building my professional online identity and as a way to form networks with like-minded people. I’ll be using it to continually keep updated on the marketing industry and even for when I graduate and am seeking for a job in the similar field. Continue reading →

Topic 5’s Reflective Summary

Do the advantages of content producers putting their stuff online for free outweigh the disadvantages? Even after reading many articles and watching videos, I still found it difficult to conclude a definite answer to this question I posed for myself whilst working through this topic. In Shannon’s blog post, I was able to somewhat lean closer towards the idea that it would be more advantageous. Just the sheer reason that your work gets that much more exposure to the public is a major plus. Continue reading →

Open Sesame! And let’s share what we find.

So YouTubers have been termed ‘Content Creators’ for quite a while now, and we all know how much YouTube stars can actually earn through advertisements that play during their videos. For a person who is fairly new to the internet and YouTube would question why someone would dedicate so much effort and time into producing a video for a website that lets people watch it without having to compensate monetarily. Topic 4’s Reflective Summary

There are tons of ethical issues relevant to social media. I focused on Accuracy as I felt it was a very important aspect considering how much information we as consumers and part of a variety of audiences are presented with every day. Definitely technology has paved the way for news media to go online and even on social media as well, which means journalists and reporters are also on these platforms hoping to deliver to the masses. #MANG2049 Topic 2’s Reflective Summary

Through studying various readings and online articles about the arguments for and against having one or multiple online identities, I can firmly say as a future potential marketer I would see myself definitely having more than one online identity! However, they would be moderated and managed to their respective appropriateness. The first commentary I made was on Renu’s blog post. Continue reading →

#MANG2049 Topic 1’s Reflective Summary

From just reading several blog posts written by my classmates, I’ve gained a good number of varied insights into Topic 1! We were asked to explain the concept of digital “visitors” and “residents” after studying provided materials and conducting our own research. After which we leave comments on 2 blog posts we feel engaged us the most and prompted questions. My classmate Stephanie wrote a simple analogy using cars. Continue reading →
