Call for papers open for BALEAP 2017 conference

The call for papers for the BALEAP 2017 Conference, taking place at the University of Bristol from 7th-9th April 2017 is open. The conference theme is ‘Addressing the State of the Union: Working Together = Learning Together’ and will look at English for Academic Purposes (EAP) from a variety of different perspectives, with the aim of building bridges between different communities of practice. The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Southampton will be hosting this year’s BALEAP Professional Issues Meeting on Saturday 11th June 2016 at Avenue Campus. The event is entitled: EMI in Higher Education: the challenges and the opportunities. The call for papers for the 8th biennial joint LLAS, UCML and AULC conference is now open. The event, entitled ‘Frameworks for Collaboration and Multilingualism’ will take place at the University of Warwick on 6-7 July 2016. Modern Languages staff to present at Intercultural Connections Southampton Conference

A number of Modern Languages staff will be presenting at the Intercultural Connections Southampton Conference, taking place on Tuesday 28th April 2015 from 9:00-16:30 in Garden Court, Highfield Campus. ICT and Languages Conference a success!

Last weekend’s ICT and Languages Conference 2015, hosted by the Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS) team at the University of Southampton on 28th February and 1st March was a great success! The conference, aimed at teachers of languages in schools, focused on technology and pedagogy of language teaching in primary and secondary schools, and attracted 60 delegates from around the country. This is the fifth annual conference on this topic to be held at Southampton. Continue reading →
