Día de los Muertos – the Mexican Day of the Dead at Avenue Campus

There has been an altar celebrating the Day of the Dead at the Avenue Campus at the University of Southampton each year for a number of years, and this year is no exception! In Mexico, Día de los Muertos which, despite the name, celebrates life, is celebrated on 2nd November with a national holiday. Next Intercultural Staff Café

The next Intercultural Staff Café hosted by Intercultural Connections Southampton (ICS) will take place on Thursday 10th November 2016 from 14:30 to 16:30 in the Nuffield Kitchen, Highfield Campus. This will be an opportunity to meet the University’s new Vice-President for Internationalisation, Professor Colin Grant. Next CLLEAR seminar: “Humpty-Dumpty’s Problem: how do we put morphologically complex words back together again?”

The next Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR) seminar will take place on Wednesday 19th October 2016 from 4:00-6:00pm in Lecture Theatre C, Building 65, Avenue Campus. University of Southampton Confucius Institute Day 2016

The University of Southampton Confucius Institute is hosting a mid-Autumn festival and Confucius Institute Day on Wednesday 19th October 2016 from 4:30-6pm in the Terrace Restaurant, Highfield Campus. The theme of this free event, sponsored by Chinese Hanban is “Blooming Flowers and a Full Moon”, and aims to engage Southampton locals with an interest in Chinese culture and language.
