Times Higher Education has published an article discussing the need for polyglots if the UK wants a place in the ‘global academy’. “English cannot be the only acceptable language of scholarship, says Toby Miller. Official opening of the University of Southampton Malaysia campus today

The University of Southampton is celebrating today, Thursday 21st March 2013, the official opening of its Malaysia campus, both in the UK and at the new campus in EduCity@Iskandar in South Johor. The Campus welcomed its first students last September to enrol on Southampton’s world-renowned degree in Mechanical Engineering with further programmes to follow including the University’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering later this year and opportunities for PhD students as well. Institute for Language and Culture lecture: “Trends and issues of migration flows in the Middle East”

The Institute for Language and Culture at the University of Southampton will be hosting a lecture on Tuesday 23rd April 2013 at 12pm in Building 65, Lecture Theatre B, Avenue Campus entitled ‘Trends and issues of migration flows in the Middle East’. The talk will be delivered by Dr Michèle Baussant, a social anthropologist from the University Paris-Ouest Nanterre La Défense who has published extensively on the issues of migrations, memory and cultural heritage.
