British Council report on UK language needs

On 20 November the British Council launched a report entitled ‘Languages for the Future: Which Languages the UK Needs and Why’, identifying Spanish, Arabic, French, Mandarin Chinese, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish and Japanese as the languages most vital to the UK over the next 20 years. The report is of interest for all concerned with planning the future of languages and can be downloaded from the British Council website. Continue reading →

Italian film showing today: Una famiglia perfetta (Paolo Genovese, 2012)

The Italian film, Una famiglia perfetta (Paolo Genovese, 2012), will be showing in Lecture Theatre A, Avenue Campus at 6:30pm on Monday 25th November. There will be an introduction by Katie Churchill, Carla Ringland Mendez and Madelaine Mason and a review by Alessia Plutino. This is the last film of the season: we will have a Christmas gathering after the showing, and the discussion will take place over nibbles and drinks. Continue reading →
