Online Masters in English Language Teaching launched to new global markets

Senior representatives from the University of Southampton and the British Council attended the launch event held yesterday for the expansion of the Online MA in English Language Teaching to new global markets. Developed through a joint partnership between the University and the British Council, our innovative online MA in ELT programme will now be offered to practising teachers across the world, both on an independent basis, and through Ministries of Education and educational institutions. Are musicians better language learners?

The Guardian has reported on research that has found that children who learn music from a young age find it easier to learn languages. The study, undertaken by researchers at Harvard Medical School, found that children who study music before the age of seven develop bigger vocabularies, a better sense of grammar and a higher verbal IQ. Talk on careers in the EU institutions today

John Evans, staff translator for the European Commission, will be giving a talk on careers opportunities available for language graduates in EU institutions on Monday 10th March from 6:00-7:00pm, in Lecture Theatre A, Avenue Campus, University of Southampton. Focusing in particular on careers in translation, the talk will offer an insight into the challenging and varied work on offer, and will provide an explanation of the recruitment procedure and information on the traineeship scheme.
