Brazilian language students learn English online with retirees

Modern Languages’ Alessia Plutino recognised in Excellence in Teaching Awards

Alessia Plutino, an Italian tutor from Modern Languages at Southampton, was recognised for her work this week at the Excellence in Teaching Awards (ETAs), hosted by the University’s Student Union. Alessia’s work with Twitter and new technologies was acknowledged twice, first with an award in the innovative teaching category for the Faculty of Humanities, and then with a high commendation for the overall University prize. A one-day cultural event entitled ‘Mexico Today’ will be taking place on Saturday 17 May 2014 from 10am-4pm at the University of Southampton’s Avenue Campus. The event will consist of a series of short talks led by experts from within Modern Languages at Southampton, exploring in particular the ways that contemporary migration and cultural imports impact on Mexico today.
