At this years Ocean Sciences Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii (23-28th February), Dr Charlie Thompson, Research Fellow in G&G, was co-convener of a session on ‘ Benthic-pelagic coupling and exchange across the sediment-water interface’, alongside Dr Fay Couceiro (University of Portsmouth), Dr. Linda Kalnejais (University of New Hampshire) and Dr. Kai Ziervogal (University of North Carolina). The session featured seven oral presentations and 21 poster presentations covering a wide range of aspects of the fluxes between the sediment and water column.
This was a process-based session, with topics covering biogeochemistry and physical resuspension processes at a range of scales. Work carried out in coastal, shelf and lacustrine environments was included, and utilised observational, experimental and modeling studies. The vast variety of topics made both oral and poster sessions particularly interesting, and they were both well attended. The full range of presentations that made up the two sessions can be found on the OSM website, and the posters have been made available through the eposters website.
