Reflective Summary: Can We Be 100% Authentic?

This topic has been a rather challenging one for me, anyone felt the same way as me? Hence, I was looking forward to reading my peersā€™ blog posts to see their different views on it. What Vivian mentioned in her post really caught my eye, and that is staying active on our social platforms. In my post I focused on the importance of personal branding, but I neglected the most crucial part of it, which is to bring it out and strongly advertise it. Continue reading →

Developing an Authentic Online Professional Profile

Socrates once said,Ā “To find yourself, think for yourself.”Ā This quote encourages people to embrace who they are and build up on it. Trying to be someone you are not is not only exhausting, and it will not be effective if it isnā€™t perceived as true (Kanter, 2015). An online identity is the sum of oneā€™s characteristics and interactions represented online (Internet Society, 2011). I believe it is co-created by ourselves and the environment. Continue reading →

Reflective Summary: Implications on Digital Marketing?

Source: Giphy Hi again! I believe the first topic has been rather thought provoking for most of us, well at least for me it is! Before reading up on this topic, I have always use the Internet as just a platform to access to things easily online or interacting with people, but have never thought about the different types of users that exist. This topic really made me think more in depth about how people engage with digital platforms. Continue reading →

“Visitors & Residents” VS “Natives & Immigrants” in the Digital World

Having read the articles on digital Visitors and Residents, I do agree more with the concept of digital Visitors and Residents as opposed to Prenskyā€™s typology of digital natives and immigrants, which focuses heavily on age and competence. White and Cornu (2011) states that the model of digital Visitors and Residents is like a continuum and it is influenced by peopleā€™s motivation to engage with the Internet. Continue reading →
