The Final Post

12 days. 12 days was all it took for me to realise the importance in keeping my online profile professional and to use the web responsibly. This is by far the only module which has taught me beyond the learning objectives. Here’s a summary of what I have been working on, enjoy! Prior to starting this module, a self-evaluation was done to assess my digital literacy. I would say, there was a tremendous improvement! LinkedIn has since been termed an electronic CV. Reflective Summary on Free vs Fee

I admit I am one of those who have taken open access on the web for granted. The drawbacks which content producers meet with have never crossed my mind until this topic was introduced. Zoey’s comment on my post sparked off some thoughts on how these content producers can “protect” their work yet at the same time continue to share their creations. Kaye’s post showed an example of how she would safeguard her image through watermarking. Continue reading →

Topic 5 – Free vs Fee

Let’s start off with an introduction of what Open Access is! Standing from my perspective as a student, the revolution in education makes Open Education (OE) essential as it offers teaching and learning resources which are free of cost, access barriers and has legal permission for open use.                    (Source: Information from link) In today’s business world, gone were the days of submitting a text document of your CV! It is no longer enough to differentiate yourself from your competition. The “world’s largest professional social media network” – LinkedIn, has impacted recruiting functions so much so that it pops up in mind once ‘online professional profile’ is mentioned. Reflective summary on having more than one online identity

As mentioned in my previous post, I am pro multiple online identities to protect my privacy. However from the comments and posts, it has struck me a few thoughts on it. Jacinda’s post gave me an insight to having a single identity. Despite having a different take from her, I stand firm on my position of having multiple identities as I will not want to compromise my social life for a more professional view of my social media networks. Reflective Summary of ‘Digital Visitors’ & ‘Digital Residents’

Having read through several of my colleagues’ post, I was able to gain a deeper insight into the differences between a ‘visitor’ and a ‘resident’. It also made me realize that hey, I’m not the only one who is a culprit of being an “in-between”! Being a selective ‘visitor’ or ‘resident’ is very commonly found among my colleagues’, and this trend is beginning to show among the older generation too. Continue reading →
