Final Post

I will not pretend that this last year has been a bed of roses. Having been given a torrid time of it would be a much better description. A combination of outside pressures and some initial academic injustices put me in the position in questioning why I was still here. However, life is not about the battles you choose to fight, but rather it is about those battles that you have no choice other than to fight them. Continue reading →

I Got a First!

I got a FIRST! Yes, that’s right; I’m now the very proud holder of a First Class Honours Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton! All the hard work has finally paid off and I really couldn’t be happier. So you know now the end of my university story, but as I haven’t written for a few months, it’s only fair I fill you in on what happened in my final ever semester. Continue reading →

First week at Ericsson & Exam Results

Hello my lovely blog readers :-) I think the first thing to say is "yayy I got a 2:1 for first year"!! It's first year so technically I got 25 more percents than I need, but it's still nice to say you got a decent grade and didn't 'just pass' - but it kind of means I need to keep it up for two more years now I've done it once!! The second is to give some sort of review of the first week of my internship with Ericsson. Continue reading →

First Year is Almost Over

So this is it, two more exams and first year is over. I can hardly believe that it was 8 months ago that I left what I knew and came to Southampton to start my degree. If you had told me what I would have been up to before I started I would have thought you were crazy ... getting BUCS points for canoe polo, winning our league and cup for rugby, caving for half of my Easter, doing my kayaking 3* and still having time to eat, sleep, socialise and do some work. Continue reading →

Second Year is Very Tough

Second year[1] is very tough. I mean, I'm not saying that to scare you; ECS is a vibrant, fun and clever place but the point still remains that second year is hard. I'm sure that the third years, attempting to remember what their lives were like before the third year project hand-in, would disagree. Actually, I distinctly remember an argument among some of them on this very subject. Continue reading →

Allez Le Bleu!

It is indeed amazing how time flies; it seems just like not long ago we commenced the new academic year. With only few weeks away from the second semester exams one can only wonder what made time fly so fast. We are already talking about plans for the summer – internships, trips, research, et al and deciding the modules we intend to study next year. Continue reading →

Epic 2012

It’s been a long time since I last updated my blog here. Well, there have been lots of exciting things going on. When I landed in Heathrow two years ago, that was my first time being abroad and I was doing just fine. So, I thought, hell yeah, put me anywhere on god's green earth and I’ll get through with ease …until last weekend. Just two days before the Easter break ends, I attended a conference like no others.
