Having an online professional profile is very important. That helps you to connect with other people and look for jobs etc. There are many company offer the same service but the world leading professional profile website is ā€œLinkedInā€ [1].

In this blog we will look at how to develop an online professional profile. There is a big encouragement about it at online that I would like to discus here and give my opinion.

LinkedIn is the most powerful online B2B sales and marketing tool, with very large number and very important prospect [2]. That is why this website is not a social network itā€™s a professional network.

Things will differentiate you between social network and professional network is flowing;

  • School
  • Degree
  • Field of study
  • Grades
  • Work experience and many more

So that is why it important to take some time and write what you want writeĀ and what your employee may want to read on your professional profile. Your profile needs to be focused, easy to find and tailored to targeted audience. My research show that there are some minimum requirements for any online professional profile below, but there is always space for improvements.

  1. Professional HeadingĀ This is the field where you put your search result not a job title.
  1. Summary about you (Bio)Ā Online covering letter that talk about you only.
  1. PhotoĀ We are human beings and we would like to see name on a photo.
  1. Current and Passed JobsĀ Separate field for each job.
  1. SpecialistĀ The service you can offer.
  1. Connect with interesting and relevant peopleĀ Connect with people who you think are interesting and relevant people only not family and friends.
  1. Get recommended about youĀ Here is the field where you get reference from other people make sure there are relevant to topic.
  1. Do not forget to give the contact details.Ā

All the above will help you create a profile which is your brand that will sell you to your employee [4].

For example who you want to see your profile, why they need to see and what you will gain from there. Keep that in mind create a profile will get you there.
