Topic 1: Reflection

Well topic one is now over and upon reflection of writing the blog post and reading what others had to say on the topic, I can say that most people’s posts I read were heading on the same track with the question that we were all given. All went down the path of explaining what digital relatives and visitors are, with a little information about the earlier model created by Prensky (Digital Natives and Immigrants).

While most went into depth about these concepts, there was a lack of opposition to them. Upon reflecting on both of these models I can see that the newer theory of residents and visitors does work upon the problems that Prensky’s model produced but there are still some gaps in there that could be fixed.  As some people said in their blogs, they could be a mixture of both at the same time; this has led me to question the model because we surely can’t associate everyone that uses the web into these separate groups.

However, with all of the parts that I’ve criticized the overall presentation of the information has come out quite well and from observing what others wrote on their own blog posts, I feel confident that the question has been answered and there is enough information there to help someone that has come across my blog in search for understanding as this subject.
