SAVE: Solent Achieving Value from Efficiency

The Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG) at the University of Southampton are the academic lead of a newly funded second tier low carbon project by funded by Ofgem and SSEPD valued at a total of £10.3 million, starting in 2014. The consortium project, led by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) entitled ‘Solent Achieving Value from Efficiency’ (SAVE) will focus on local (Solent region) domestic customers’ energy usage behaviour and aims to:

  • Use targeted energy efficiency measures with domestic customers in the Solent region;
  • Quantify customer responses to a range of approaches;
  • Develop a ‘Customer Model’ to explore the potential effects of a range of intervention scenarios
  • Develop a network planning tool that incorporates the learning from this and other trials.
