Web Science students interview Vice Chancellor

Welcome to new Digital Champions!

It was great to see so many old and new faces at the Digital Champions "start of year lunch" the other day: From last year we have Tim O'Riordan, Sarah Hewitt, Gareth Beeston, Bartosz Paszcza (all from Web Science), Alex Hovden (Physics) and Sylvian Patrick (Digital Marketing). Barry Wellman Distinguished Lecture

Curriculum Innovation & MOOCs: our contributions to ILIaD Launch

The launch of our new Institute for Innovation, Learning and Development (ILIaD) was an ideal opportunity to share some of the work we have been doing recently with MOOCs and Curriculum Innovation. Thunderclap – the results!

On 11th July (over 2 months ago - where has the time gone!) I blogged about our plan to set up a Thunderclap to help us promote the Digital Marketing and Web Science MOOCs. We set the completion date/time for Monday 8th September at 3:30pm. As long as we got at least 100 supporters by that date then our Thunderclap would go live. In the end we got 123 people to support it. The result was that we achieved a social reach of over 456,000 people. Continue reading →

Web Science Summer School 2014

Next week sees the University of Southampton Web Science Institute play host to the inaugural Web Science Summer School.  It aims to provide comprehensive education and networking opportunities to the next generation of Web Scientists.
