My aim is to produce a report that examines a possible interdisciplinary approach to the study of migrant diaspora’s uses of social media. The two umbrella disciplines I am combining are Human Geography and Anthropology. From there, the two sub-disciplines I am combining are Migration Studies and Ethnography. I believe that by employing Migration studies, a hypothetical researcher would be able to better understand the causes and consequences of migration, whilst employing [digital] ethnography will enable one to explore how these migratory flows play out through social media at more “local” level.
