Final Module Reflection: “Goodbye is not the end of everything but merely the beginning of something…”

2015… 2015 has indeed been a remarkable year so far. Half way round the year I undoubtedly have a lot to say. Perhaps because it was the year that marked my two decades existence, or because it was the year my country had its first ever free and fair election or simply because it was the year I started this module: Living and Working On The Web! Over the period of this course, the development of my own online professional profile has been tremendous. Continue reading →

Reflective Summary: Topic 5

Researching and blogging for this topic has been a real eyeopener. Having chosen to take a slightly alternative approach from the ideas presented, by focussing on the online press as opposed to academic research, I think I shed a new light on the issue. That isn’t to say, however, that similar issues did not arise. Continue reading →

Topic 5: Reflective Summary

This week’s topic on the advantages and disadvantages of Open Access for the content producer generated some interesting thoughts amongst fellow UOSM2008 students. It additionally prompted several of us to try new ways of presenting our blog posts: Prezis, SlideShares and videos were abundant! The number of articles and material I read made me further research into who acturally produced the research that I was reading to be used for my blog. Continue reading →

Topic 5 Reflection

And just like that, the final topic is over. Topic 5 was probably one of my favourites topics so far as there was a variety of things that could have been spoken about and I particularly enjoyed reading experiences both online and within this module of people’s experience with online materials. I really enjoyed Hayley’s post as she used Prezi to give a brief insight of what open access is and I think I will definitely consider using Prezi when doing presentations in the future. Stand up and vote: for and against the Open Access

The topic of Open Access has sparked interesting contributions from blog’s Authors. Firstly, although in general it seems everyone appreciated the idea of Open Science, some legitimate voices of concern were raised. Secondly, there seemed to be a division in terms of post topics, with the largest group focusing on Open Access in Academia, while the rest of students wrote about same notion applied more generally to content on the Web (especially journalism).
