Sounding the student voice!

The student representation pyramid empowers students to ensure the University provides them with the best study experience possible; both sides are winners as the University only gets better while students get an awesome experience! Students go to university to acquire knowledge and expertise within one or more fields of education after which they get a formal recognition – in the form of degrees - from the university recognising the students' work. Finding a home in the Level 2 Project lab

One of the major differences or changes I experienced in my third year of studies in ECS was the lack of mandatory lab sessions like we had in the first and second years.  Unlike years 1 and 2, no third year module (apart from one) involved compulsory lab sessions.  This in effect meant I only had to come into the labs mainly for my third year project work especially as mine involved  both hardware and software components. My 3 favorite projects in computer science at ECS

Over my four years at ECS, I've been involved in a large number of coursework projects, of many different kinds, ranging from the basic essay to creating three dimensional worlds. Many have been enjoyable, many have been stressful, and a lot have been both at the same time. There are some projects that really stood out for me though, projects that in consequent years I wished I was doing again (and sure I will do in the future). Continue reading →

Back from the Haitus!

Hello everyone! Well, I think it’s been almost a year since I’ve written a blog. I’m just starting the third year now. Gosh, I feel old. I was a fresher when I wrote the last blog. A lot has happened since then. Second year was just something else. First year at university was only the tip of the iceberg in every possible way. Right from the start I had a good sense of familiarity of the place. Southampton was my jolly good town. I knew to expect the worst in the second year. Continue reading →

Highlights of My Time at Southampton

This time 4 years ago I was celebrating my A-level results and getting a highly prestigious place at ECS. Now I am a graduate and I can’t believe where all that time has gone! I hope over this time I have been able to give you an insight in to what student life in Southampton is really like, but all good things must come to an end and this will sadly be my final blog. Graduation Time

So, as I said in my last blog I had my graduation this week, and what a day it was! We were in the first ceremony of the day at a not too onerously sounding 9:30am, but given the amount of formalities that had to be completed first it actually meant a very early start, despite my family and I travelling down the day before and spending the night at the Highfield Hotel. Nearly Time for Graduation!

In a couple of hours I will be heading off to Southampton for the last time (well, for now at least) for my graduation ceremony tomorrow morning. I’m really excited, but enough about that for now – I’ll write a full blog on it later once it’s actually happened! Instead, today I just plan to fill you in on various things that have happened since finishing my exams. Continue reading →

Final Post

I will not pretend that this last year has been a bed of roses. Having been given a torrid time of it would be a much better description. A combination of outside pressures and some initial academic injustices put me in the position in questioning why I was still here. However, life is not about the battles you choose to fight, but rather it is about those battles that you have no choice other than to fight them. Continue reading →

First week at Ericsson & Exam Results

Hello my lovely blog readers :-) I think the first thing to say is "yayy I got a 2:1 for first year"!! It's first year so technically I got 25 more percents than I need, but it's still nice to say you got a decent grade and didn't 'just pass' - but it kind of means I need to keep it up for two more years now I've done it once!! The second is to give some sort of review of the first week of my internship with Ericsson. Continue reading →
