SERG’s Dr Tom Rushby gave a summary of the SAVE project to members of the University’s ‘Clean Carbon‘ USRG on the 10th May 2017. The event, which featured a keynote from Prof. Jon Gibbins, Director of the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Research Centre (UKCCSRC) on the state of CCS in the UK, consisted of 3 minute lightning talks and posters.

Tom presented the rationale for the SAVE project, the research questions and data collection methods together with an overview of preliminary analysis of household electricity consumption patterns.

This drew on the SAVE representative sample of 4,000 households across the Solent region and showed how Sunday early evening demand is emerging as a previously unseen ‘peak’; how different householder employment patterns affect temporal consumption profiles and how this is also affected by different heating types.
