2016 sustainability action wordle

After the Christmas break, we’re rested and ready for another exciting year at Sustainability Action. Here’s a look at just a few of the things you can be involved in during the months ahead…

  • The first ever student-led sustainability research conference! The ‘Educating Global Citizens’ Conference on 15th April provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to present your own research at an academic conference. There are numerous ways you can be involved in the conference, including applying for a paid internship (more details here) with the organising team. Find out more about how to make the most of this opportunity here.
  • The Sustainability Action Awards. These awards are to recognise you for what you’re already doing to have a positive impact on the world. You can nominate others or apply yourself across five different categories for individuals and teams. Don’t miss out on the chance to gain the recognition you deserve! Read more about the awards here.
  • The 10th Annual Waste Wars. 2016 marks the tenth year of Waste Wars, bringing students and staff together to gather invaluable waste data for the university’s waste management team, as well as fostering some light-hearted competition between the audit teams for much sought after prizes! More on Waste Wars here.
  • Swap Shop. Another campus swap event to get rid of your unwanted clothes, books and DVDs (ideal for that unwanted christmas present!) and find yourself some bargains (aka freebies) in preparation for warmer weather. More details coming soon but you can read about previous Swap Shop events here.

These are just a few of the sustainability activities taking place at the university over the next few months. If you can’t wait until then to start taking more sustainability action, check out these 7 ways to make a sustainable start to the year.

Happy New Year everyone!
