Creative Digifest #SxSC
You never know what’s going to come out of an unconference-style event like SxSC Creative DigiFest. We knew we had some great speakers like Alan Patrick from Broadsight doing the unKeynote:
Here is Alan’s blogpost about the day and also the photos on Flickr
And, we’d invited participants from our own networks, roughly in the digital media/creative industries/digital humanities space – but we hadn’t been too prescriptive about what people should do, when they should do it, or how they should present (beyond a firm instruction that there would be no ‘death by powerpoint!). That was the whole point – a new mass of people with the space to self-organise and create a good day without too much direction. Add to that SUSU TV and free curry, and see what comes out of the mix!
In the end, we had continuous presentations and demos, some running at the same time, from 10.30 till 4. It was a pretty diverse mix, but some strong themes came out of it, with strong interest in the themes of 3D imaging, music and visualisation. All in all, over 100 people came in at some point during the day. It was amazing how people just came in, got going, and made it work!
