Second Year is Not So Bad

When I am very close to the end of my second yearā€™s first semester I can't avoid realising that it was not as bad as it sounded beforehand. Obviously, first year must have been a pretty good training for the following one. Although, I must admit that more than once already, I have found myself in a weird frame of mind. One of those times where you really need to have some strong will to get the job done. Continue reading →

Group Design Project

Iā€™ve blogged a lot recently about everything thatā€™s happened to me outside my degree (well, actually thatā€™s not quite true, Iā€™ve not really blogged a lot recently, oops) so I think itā€™s only fair that I take a look again at what goes on inside the hallowed walls of ECS. This term I have been super-busy with the Masters Group Design Project, or GDP as itā€™s affectionately (?) known. Continue reading →

Getting started: Part 1

It's been almost two whole months since I started the Computer Science course at ECS. It still sometimes feels like a dream. I remembered reading about the University and student life before coming, getting ready and, most of all, getting excited. I wanted to find out more about Southampton as well as living in the United Kingdom. Everything turned out to be completely different from what I had anticipated. Different and better. NMI Annual Awards

Itā€™s not every day you get to meet the CEO of ARM. Itā€™s not every day you get to meet the CEOs of Imagination Technologies, the NMI, Picochip and Neul along with VPs and Directors from Dialog Semiconductor, Freescale, the Minister for Business and Enterprise and many, many more. And itā€™s definitely not every day you get to stay in a luxury suite in the 5-star Grand Wyndham Hotel in Chelsea, a place normally reserved for Premiership footballers. Well, last Thursday was no ordinary day. Continue reading →

Second Year is Hectic

So although Iā€™m already a second year, this is my first blog for you all to read! Iā€™m studying the ITO courseā€¦ and I cannot believe how hectic life has become since last year!! Gone are the days of feeling free and being able to go out any night of the week ļŒ We have another C# module this term, itā€™s literally the most miserable part of the whole week!! Weā€™ve been keeping each other going during the labs with mountains of chocolate and sweets :P I would definitely recommend any... Continue reading →

The White Heat of the Third-Year Project

There is a definite feeling of la fin du siĆØcle* around at the moment. The white-heat of the 3rd year project has a gone and the associated pressure has long since dissipated. Up until this year, there was always a certainly of some form of academic continuation and a mission to accomplish. Now in the fourth year, my primary objective of a good degree is in the bag. I can leave now and graduate with a first class bachelors degree in Computer Science. Continue reading →

ECS Undergraduate – What a Great Position

Welcome to my first blog entry, which has a zombie theme. The reason for this will become clear but I wanted to warn you from the outset that I might be digging up some pretty old jokes... So, having read other ECS blogs for the last year fascinated to know what being an ECS undergrad is like, I'm now one of them! What a great position to be in - I really am anticipating having a fantastic year. Continue reading →
