Concerts
In 2013 Billboard declared that the touring industry had never had it so good (Billboard). After a blip in growth (linked to economic decline) worldwide concert going began to be on the up and up, with an expert saying the “concert industry is basically on fire”. The above statistic reveals a similar trend (Statista), although US-based it shows the common trend that the music industry is increasingly bringing in revenue from live events. With more attendance numbers means more people willing to share their experiences and potentially more users for the Be Seated service.
Comedy
Like theatre the comedy scene is also in a healthy state of affairs. Comedy is a thriving business and even though the availability of streaming has allowed comedy to be accessed almost at any time, people still value it as a social experience. This is encouraging for Be Seated as it is not an unreasonable expectation that if people value being sat together to experience live comedy they will also feel compelled to share/discuss/review their experience when they return home. Even better is if more and more people are going to live events, means more and more potential users for the Be Seated service.
“In the last thirty years the live comedy industry has changed almost beyond recognition. A world that started off as one night stands in smokey rooms in tiny pubs and clubs has now grown into a huge business, with acts such as Michael McIntyre, Peter Kay and Lee Evans taking up residency in arenas more used to staging rock concerts.” (State of Play)
