The University’s main campus is set in green and pleasantly landscaped surroundings, just a short walk from the city centre. Here you will find new and refurbished student facilities, such as the Jubilee Sports Centre and Students’ Union, the Hartley Library, a range of cafés and restaurants, a bookshop, a post office and four major banks.

The University is a diverse community with staff and students from many different faiths. The Chaplaincy is open every weekday for regular services and private prayer and there is a separate Muslim prayer room in the main campus.

The Valley Gardens
The Valley Gardens is located on the Highfield Campus‚ behind the Jubilee Sports Hall and Students’ Union building and is home to many rare plant and animal species.
Union Films
Union Films is the Student Union’s very own cinema. It’s completely run by students, from the front of house staff who sell tickets and refreshments to the projectionists who show the films on our 35mm projector. Union Films show a large variety of films including British, European and art house as well as the latest Hollywood blockbusters.
Union Films is open to anyone with a SUSU membership, which includes University of Southampton students and staff. However, each member can also bring along up to two non-student guests, who can enjoy films for exactly the same ticket price!

Early Years Centre
The Early Years Centre is located on Highfield Campus, and provides high quality childcare for students, staff and local parents. The Centre is open to children aged from three months to five years, and is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday throughout the year.
Nuffield Theatre
The Nuffield Theatre is recognised in Great Britain and abroad as a major force in UK theatre and runs full programmes of classics, revivals, new theatre and studio performances. The admission price is discounted for students.
Turner Sims Concert Hall
The Turner Sims Concert Hall hosts leading musicians from the worlds of classical, jazz, folk and world music. It is also one of the UK’s leading venues for chamber music. Students get discounted admission to this extremely popular venue.
John Hansard Gallery
The John Hansard Gallery has an international reputation for exciting and innovative shows by leading British and international artists. Exhibitions include painting, video and installations and the gallery also hosts regular seminars, talks and workshops. Admission is free.
