This was an impromptu meeting at the start of Easter as we happened to be around.
Topics discussed were:
- Autogenerating RDF triples through the app to map “level 10 foodies” of particular age within a semantically linked ontology.
- Affiliation model might not work if we crowdsource ratings.
- The advertising model may be more applicable
- The semantic database could target ads at particular users, eg restaurants can pay us to use our database to send targeted ads to “level 10 foodies who like Chinese food” to encourage regular users to visit their restaurant.
- We would get paid a small amount for people who scan the QR code that is provided by the restaurant as we are sending them targeted customers.
- Only charge them for people who turn up to events or restaurants, otherwise we don’t charge. Provides an incentive to sign up.
- Selling tickets within the app
- We get paid per ticket sold after being linked from our app.
- Point scoring system
- If we were to set the app up for use immediately, who would be responsible for setting the “Scene Score” of the venue?
- We would create a pilot study that involved 100 students and they would review the places for us.
- Later, users would be able to vote down or up a rating.
- Verified users.
- We would charge companies to become verified with us, similar to Twitter.
- This could create a small revenue for us, it would be nothing for the hosts but if we charge each one a small amount then it would accumulate over time.
- Similar events.
- How will we moderate similar events? If we allow the users to create their own events/tiles on the app, how will be differentiate between single events?
- We have some sort of process, whether automatic or manual, to decide upon one tile to use as the master tile. We then inform the event host (if they are not the creator) that an event has been created, then if they pay us we can give them control of the tile. We would notify the creator and give them a certain number of Scene Points for their good work.
- Lastly, we revisited the Gantt Chart to make sure we were all up to speed, which we were.
