The Competitor Analysis was performed utilising the current trend of social applications. To this end, many websites have compliled lists, such as http://appadvice.com/applists/show/beef-up-your-social-life and http://www.buzzfeed.com/chelseypippin/17-apps-that-can-actually-improve-your-social-life#.avMEaRlYO that span 30 applications between them. Many in particular seem to have very similar premises, honing in on the idea of local searching to find the perfect destination. However, none of them seem have the points aspect that Scene is built upon. Foursquare used to, however axed it in favour of a badge system and the response to that decision seems negative, encouraging support for the points premise in Scene. Scene’s standout is undoubtedly the gaming/points aspect and how these unlock rewards/discounts. If Scene is to succeed, it needs to drill down into this feature in order to distinguish it from a near saturated market.
The applications looked at were Foursquare, Field Trip, socialeyes and Findery.
