The first meeting with Tim went well today. We explained our topic, discussed his previous experience with the coursework and listened to his advice. We also outlined tasks that needed to be done before and during the Easter holiday break.
Topics discussed during the meeting
- Topics
- How the app fits in with other apps
- How it differs and what its appeal is
- Ethical and moral issues with the app, namely what we would do with the data we gathered and to what extent it would be anonymised.
We were told by Tim that iSurvey is the preferred medium for conducting surveys across the university. We had already outlined our survey in eSurvey and therefore had to migrate it across, though this was accomplished easily. We also needed to create a Gantt Chart for subdividing projects and setting personal deadlines. At first the “Smart Sheer Project Management” app for Chrome was used, but we soon discovered it was a 30-day trial so decided to scrap that and default to using Excel.
We then again talked about the app, how its coolness factor will influence venues and how users and venues can increase their coolness rating, either by voting on events (creating crowdsourced ratings) or allow the venues to financially contribute to improving their coolness rating, creating a revenue stream for us.
Lastly, we delegated tasks to be done over the next few weeks.
