GeosMeta

GeosMeta permits researchers using scripts to capture provenance in such a way that workflow can be inferred, the status of steps in an analysis modified with history recorded. Questions about where a program was used, or how data were generated can be answered. In the case of GeosMeta this is in the context of a system that will be used to build and capture (meta)data documents in JSON form. Each document describes an entity or activity of the researchers’ analysis. Researchers can define new classes of documents on-the-fly, via a RESTful interface. GeosMeta seeks to provide a general ability to generate and store metadata. It seeks to do so without prior definition of schema or demanding a common denominator for metadata, whilst recognising that consistency in schema has huge advantages, including for querying the database.
