Getting ready for Phase 3

Being cautiously optimistic about the prospects for Phase 3 and not wanting to let the grass grow under our feet, we had an all-hands teleconference on Friday 15th January. Given the paths to delivery that we had outlined in our Sandpit 3 pitch, we naturally considered how we could approach the following activities:

  • Reliable shared language (RSL)
  • Guidance, exemplars, developing and expounding the message
  • Forming Concrete Communities
  • Developing the tools

Having established our plans for these activities, we then discussed how we would work together in the following areas:

  • Characterisation using Annalist and how that channels into visualisation
  • Communication and dissemination
  • Project management

We all agreed that it had been a very productive and positive meeting. We’re looking forward to hearing from Jisc about the project selection. If the outcome is favourable to us, we’re confident that we know what we have to do and how we’ll go about achieving our goals.

In the meantime, with the IDCC16 Conference in Amsterdam coming up next month, we’re busy finalising our paper, “Using metadata actively”, and preparing for our workshop, “Metadata in Action”.
